Sonion DK Group was established in 1892 with more than 100 years’ history. Though there were several changes before, now Sonion is becoming the 1st 3 leading suppliers of speakers to large producers of mobile phones.
丹麦声扬集团于2000年进入中国市场，目前在苏州已设立了两家独资工厂：声扬电子（苏州）有限公司和声扬科技（苏州）有限公司，总投资额4250万美元。为巩固公司在市场中的领导地位，并加快产品上市的时间，集团于2004年底在苏州和上海成立了研发中心。新的中国研发中心将与丹麦的研发人员密切合作，一同进行产品改进和生产设备设计的研发工作。研发的主要方向是给客户提供高性价比的电声领域的微精密产品。不断的技术创新是实现这一目标的重要手段。
In order to enhance the customers business development in China, Sonion DK Group set up the 1st sole ownership factory in Suzhou New & Hi-tech Development Zone in September 2000 --- Sonion (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., which investment cost is USD 22.5 millions. Along with the further expansion of Sonion’s business, Sonion DK Group set up another sole ownership factory in Suzhou New & Hi-tech Development Zone Export Processing Zone in July 2004 --- Sonion (Suzhou II) Co., Ltd., which investment cost is USD 20 millions. And at the meantime, we are starting to establish R&D Center in Suzhou and Shanghai.
声扬苏州公司配备了高科技、全自动化和半自动化的生产流水线，而且还建立了完善的管理机制和体系, 从而保证了产品的质量和可靠性。所使用的生产技术包括激光焊接、热压焊接、影像监测系统、高精度机械手、全自动绕线机、可编程逻辑控制器、微机控制以及各种定位(Indexing)技术等。
Sonion has provided the production line with high technology, entire automation in Suzhou factory, to guarantee the high quality and continual development. Here we have used many production technologies, such as laser welding, laser marking, the vision monitor system, the high accurate manipulator, automatic winding machine, the programmable logical controller, the microcomputer control, and all kinds of indexing technology and so on.

Important milestones from Sonion's history.

Year Event
2012 Sonion divests Sonion Medical to Ferrosan Medical Devices. With the divestment, Sonion increases focus on activities which supports the new vision: “helping enhance hearing at maximum comfort”. Later in 2012, Sonion inaugurates its new 11,000 sqm factory in Manila, Philippines.
2010 Sonion opens a 2,500 sqm factory in Vung Tau City – its second factory in Vietnam.

2009

Altor Fund III acquires the MedTech Group from Technitrol on June 25. Sonion is reestablished as an independent company with a core focus on hearing instruments, medical devices and advanced audio applications.

2008

Technitrol (NYSE:TNL) acquires Sonion. The Hearing Instrument Component and Medical Device Component activities are established as an independent MedTech Group under the Pulse Engineering operating company.

2006

Sonion opens a new factory in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. In the following two years, the majority of the Polish production is relocated to Vietnam.
Sonion retains a facility in Poland aimed at manufacturing components for medical devices.

2005

Sonion establishes a dedicated group aimed at servicing a growing demand for transducer products in non-hearing instrument applications. The new customers include manufacturers of in-ear earphones and advanced headsets.

2003

Sonion is divided into three business areas: Hearing Instrument Components, Medical Device Components and Mobile Terminal Components. The latter includes the activities of the former Kirk Acoustics organization in addition to the company’s growing MEMS microphone activities.
To meet the growing demand for hearing instrument components, a second factory is opened in Mierzyn, Poland.

2001

Production of high volume transducers for mobile handsets is relocated from Denmark to China.

2000

Private equity funds Polaris and Nordic Capital buy Microtronic. Shortly after, Danish company Kirk Acoustics is acquired. Kirk Acoustics supplies high volume transducers to mobile handsets. The joint company changes name into Sonion.

1999

Customer Service Center is established in Shanghai, China.

1996

Microtronic establishes a US sales office and Microtronic Polska is founded. In the following years, production is transferred from Denmark and the Netherlands to Poland.

1995

Microtronic acquires Microtel.

1993

Microtronic is appointed global distributor of Dutch company Microtel, which develops and manufactures transducer products for hearing instruments.

1990

Microtronic aquires Micro Electric in Switzerland.

1989

The last of the original two founders leaves the company, which is taken over by a group of financial investors.

1974

Microtronic is founded in Roskilde, Denmark. Microtronic is developing micromechanical components to the hearing instrument industry.
