Dr. Kurt Müller GmbH & Co. KG was founded in 1934 in Berlin. Our core business is the development and production of loudspeaker components in all kinds of applications.

We use materials on the latest technological level with the highest precision, effectiveness and durability. Cones in sandwich design, treated aluminium, titanium and kevlar are some examples of our applications.

Over the years the company headquarter and main production site moved to Krefeld near Düsseldorf. All the activities are coordinated and controlled from this place. Even the customer service is based in Krefeld and is available for questions concerning current products and technical matters.

Beside the headquarter at Krefeld production is located in High Wycombe, England for professional sound cones at the highest quality level. In addition labour-intensive products can be produced by a partner company in the Czech Republic.

Today Dr. Kurt Müller GmbH & Co KG is a leading international supplier for acoustic parts to the main loudspeaker companies with over 70 years experience.

PAPER CONES
Due to it’s ideal combination of low weight and excellent mechanical features (stiffness, damping) paper is still a material

that is highly suitable for the production of loudspeaker cones. By means of special processes and materials DKM offers an

appropriate solution for each of your applications.

1. Production of paper cones
sieve inside or sieve outside
pressed for improvement of fidelity
air dryed to increase internal damping
sizes up to 10 inches are produced in Germany, sizes larger than 10 inches are produced in UK

2. Materials of paper cones
production in UK: hardest Blue Sig, standard material and soft material Mu and K2 or very hard special material SigX
production in Germany: hard, black ST material, standard material and soft, damping materials V, DU, DS and special

materials MA (Micra), NU
for increase of strength spacing material is used (aramid fibre, carbon fibre, glass fibre, ...)

3. After treatment of paper cones
hardening of cone neck or whole cone by painting
water-repellent, bactericidal or fungicidal design
complete immersion to raise internal damping
coating to improve appearance and acoustics
laminating with high-tech fabrics

DOME DIAPHRAGMS
Commonly dome diaphragms consist of a very fine fabric and integrate a fabric dome and a surround. The surround of a dome

diaphragm is not pasted afterwards, but formed simultaneously with the hard dome production with a convex or concave shape.
For dome diaphragms DKM uses fabrics with grammages of 60 g/sq.m, which are coated according to the application. The optimal

balance of fabric and resin leads to the required mechanical strength.
Dome diaphragms typically are used for tweeters in sizes from 1 to 3 inches.
For tweeters DKM furthermore provides pre-assembled modules of hard dome and soft surround as assembled dome diaphragms as

well as conventional tweeter cones.
