Sonion opens a new factory in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. In the following two years, the majority of the Polish production is relocated to Vietnam. |

Sonion establishes a dedicated group aimed at servicing a growing demand for transducer products in non-hearing instrument applications. The new customers include manufacturers of in-ear earphones and advanced headsets. |

Sonion is divided into three business areas: Hearing Instrument Components, Medical Device Components and Mobile Terminal Components. The latter includes the activities of the former Kirk Acoustics organization in addition to the company’s growing MEMS microphone activities. |

Production of high volume transducers for mobile handsets is relocated from Denmark to China. |

Private equity funds Polaris and Nordic Capital buy Microtronic. Shortly after, Danish company Kirk Acoustics is acquired. Kirk Acoustics supplies high volume transducers to mobile handsets. The joint company changes name into Sonion. |

Microtronic establishes a US sales office and Microtronic Polska is founded. In the following years, production is transferred from Denmark and the Netherlands to Poland. |

Microtronic is appointed global distributor of Dutch company Microtel, which develops and manufactures transducer products for hearing instruments. |

Microtronic aquires Micro Electric in Switzerland. |

The last of the original two founders leaves the company, which is taken over by a group of financial investors. |

Microtronic is founded in Roskilde, Denmark. Microtronic is developing micromechanical components to the hearing instrument industry. |

Building on our generic product portfolio, we work intimately with our customers to supply customized solutions that help our customers meet their challenges.
Our customers include a broad selection of hearing instrument manufacturers, in-ear earphone manufacturers and some of the world’s largest medtech companies. Sonion is headquartered in Denmark and has facilities in Poland, the Netherlands, the USA, Vietnam and China. Our components are produced at our two factories in Vietnam and Poland. Sonion is certified according to the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 13485 standards.
Since June 2009, Sonion has been owned by Altor Fund III – managed by Altor Equity Partners.
